Fages extends Saints deal

Theo Fages has extended his contract at St Helens.

Theo Fages has committed his future to St.Helens R.F.C by signing a contract extension until the end of the 2021 season.

Scrum half, Fages, signed for Saints from Salford Red Devils back in 2015 and has gone on to make over 90 appearances, scoring 26 tries for St.Helens.

This season, the 24-year-old French captain, has been a regular starter in Justin Holbrook’s Saints team, making 13 appearances and scoring five tries.

“I am very, very happy to stay at the club and I am looking forward to the next two years. The club, the boys and the fans have always been good to me and they have made me feel at home so it was an easy decision.

“I want to thank the coaches, Justin Holbrook, all the staff, Eamonn McManus and Mike Rush. They are the reason I am here.

“I still haven’t achieved what I wanted here at the club so that made my decision an even easier one. I want to win trophies and hopefully we can go on to do it this year and win more in the next two years," said Fages

St.Helens R.F.C Chairman Eamonn McManus said: “I am delighted Theo has committed to the Saints for another two years. There was naturally a lot of interest in him from both here in Super League and the NRL so we are thrilled Theo has opted to extend his stay.

“Theo is a quality player who is now arguably in his prime years. He’s been a regular starter in Justin’s team this season and hopefully he can continue his impressive recent form in the years to come in a Saints shirt.??

Head Coach Justin Holbrook added: “It’s great news to have Theo committing his future to the Saints.

“Theo is a fantastic player who has played a crucial part in our team this season. He is hugely talented with ball in hand and he is solid in defence. Theo works hard on his game and his preparation every week which is why he is such a consistent player.

“I am confident he will continue to improve and it is great he will do that here at St.Helens.??
