Fantasy League debrief

Top performers

Salford Red Devils players ran riot against the Champions with three of their players recording top five scores in Fantasy League this week. Joe Burgess topped the scoring in Round 21 thanks to an 87-point total – Burgess crossed for 2 tries, set up another, made 3 clean breaks, 7 tackle busts and 163 metres.

Burgess’s teammates Tim Lafai (80) and Kallum Watkins (73) also had impressive afternoons for the Red Devils. Lafai set up 3 tries and ran for 193 metres, whilst Watkins crossed for a brace of tries and made 29 tackles.

Elsewhere, hat-trick hero Liam Marshall was a Fantasy standout thanks to his 83 point return in Round 21. Alongside his 3 tries, Marshall recorded a try assist, 2 clean breaks and 177 metres from 18 carries.

Jack Welsby was busy in defeat as he recorded a solid 77 point total whilst Patrick Mago made a huge impact from the bench for Wigan on his way to a 72 point return.

Fantasy Flops

It was a weekend to forget for owners of Matt Prior with the Rhinos prop finishing with a score of -13. Prior received a yellow card against Catalans before being sent off later in the contest, whilst also giving away 3 penalties, making 2 errors and missing 5 tackles.

After an impressive 62 point return in Round 20, Curtis Sironen scored just 6 points following an injury which forced him off the field after just 20 minutes. It’s a bitter blow for Sironen who had been in devastating form in the Saints back row.

Popular Fantasy hooker Danny Levi scored just 12 points in Round 21 after having his minutes reduced against Warrington - Levi managed just 23 minutes on the field with Adam O’Brien playing the bulk of the game.

Levi’s teammate Chris McQueen – a top 5 back rower in Fantasy this year – had a quiet game too. McQueen managed to score just 20 points in Round 21 – significantly lower than his previous 54 point average.

Looking ahead

Just 2 players have received suspensions following the latest round of fixtures. Unsurprisingly, Matt Prior has received a 2 match suspension for his red card whilst Olly Russell will also be unavailable for a week.

Hull KR could welcome some Fantasy favourites back into their side this week with Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Fankie Halton both returning to full training.

Staying on the injury front, Saints pair Curtis Sironen and Regan Grace are both expected to spend some time on the sidelines after picking up injuries in Round 21.
