York Knights returned to winning ways in Round 9 with a 38-14 victory over Toulouse Olympique on Thursday Night.
In a Betfred Championship Grand Final rematch, the Knights proved too strong with a first half double from birthday boy Paul Vaughan, as well as Scott Galeano’s score.
Galeano then completed his hat-trick in the second stanza, and Kieran Buchanan also got on the scoresheet.
Thomas Lacans had put Toulouse on the board in the first half but further tries from Henry O'Kane and Mathieu Jussaume were merely consolations, as the French side remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Also in Thursday’s double bill, Leigh Leopards eased to victory against Huddersfield Giants.
Two try scorer AJ Towse and Innes Senior got the Leopards off to a strong start, before Josh Charnley, on his 400th career appearance, scored twice to cement the win (30-16).
Friday Night saw a triple-header of action – and Warrington Wolves beat rivals Wigan Warriors in a magnificent manner.
Josh Thewlis and Albert Hopoate both scored two tries as the Wolves extended their 100% winning home record in 2026.
The Warriors’ only response was stunning effort from Zach Eckersley, but it was nowhere near enough on the night (23-6).
Elsewhere, there were convincing wins for league leaders Leeds Rhinos, as well as Hull FC.
The Rhinos kept their place at the top of the tree, as they ran eight tries by Catalans Dragons.
Ash Handley, Maika Sivo and Ryan Hall set the tone, giving Leeds a 16-0 half-time lead.
The dominance continued throughout the full 80 minutes, with four tries in a wild 15-minute spell, with Danny Levi, Cooper Jenkins, Brodie Croft, Hall and James McDonnell all crossing at AMT Headingley Stadium (46-4).
Nearby, the Black & Whites inflicted misery on Castleford Tigers in Round 9, giving interim head coach Andy Last his first win.
Hull FC posted 50 points on the Tigers, who looked a completely different side to the one that had beaten Wigan in the previous round, as Jake Arthur, Tom Briscoe, Davy Litten (x2), Connor Bailey, Lewis Martin, Zak Hardaker and Cade Cust all contributed to the visitors’ terrific try-scoring tally (6-50).
On Saturday, magic Mikey Lewis scored four tries as champions Hull KR secured their fourth consecutive win with a 12-48 victory over Bradford Bulls.
St Helens also held on to overcome Wakefield Trinity and are now sitting joint top with the Rhinos.
The Saints stormed into a 16-0 advantage with tries from Jake Davies, Kyle Feldt and Tristan Sailor in the opening forty.
But Trinity clawed their way back into the game and closed the gap to just six points, as Tyson Smoothy and Caius Faatili both went over the line.
Daryl Powell’s men couldn’t take their chances, however, as the Red V saw through another victory over their Wakefield opponents (18-12).
