Hat-trick hero Scott Galeano ensured York Knights would return to winning ways on Friday Night. As did Paul Vaughan, who crossed for two tries on his birthday, and made 107 metres and 20 tackles.
Similarly, AJ Towse was at the double for Leigh Leopards who claimed a comfortable victory over the Giants.
In Friday’s triple-header, Albert Hopoate shone for Warrington. It was two tries, 145 metres in 19 carries, four tackle busts and 13 tackles for the Wolves winger, as they put on a scintillating show to beat the Warriors.
Over at AMT Headingley Stadium, there was no stopping Lachie Miller, who raced 250 metres in 30 carries and produced three try assists in Leeds’ perfect performance over the Dragons.
He is joined by teammate James McDonnell in the Round 9 Team of the Week, with McDonnell also scoring, and completing 31 tackles – the most of any Rhinos player on the pitch.
A short distance away, Hull FC also ran riot on Friday, with Davy Litten, Amir Bourouh and Zak Hardaker all contributing points in the Black & Whites’ mauling of the Tigers.
Whilst Litten scored two, Bourouh assisted two, and Hardaker showed all his experience, scoring one try, kicking seven goals and producing 110 metres and 21 tackles.
Three key members of the Robins team have made the cut, including half-back duo, Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May.
Magic Mikey went over for four tries on Saturday at Bartercard Odsal, and assisted another, whilst May assisted four and scored one.
What a display from the champions’ playmakers!
As they did all the hard work in attack, skipper Minchella stood tall in defence with 32 tackles.
Finally, Alex Walmsley rolled back the years with an exceptional effort in his 36-minute stint for Saints.
Walmsley ran 106 metres in just 14 carries, burst through six tackles and also made 19 tackles of his own – the most important one being when he chased down winger Oli Pratt to prevent him from breaking away. Prop forwards shouldn't be able to do that, should they?!
