BWhcSL: Round 5 Round up

Round 5 of the Betfred Wheelchair Super League brought another weekend full of action as the competition heats up.

The first game of the weekend saw Hull FC travel to face Bradford Bulls where they put on a dominant display.

The pair met in a pre-season friendly as the Bulls began their preparations for entering the Super League, but they couldn’t quite get the win over the Black and Whites who gained another victory at 30-68.

London Roosters hosted Sheffield Eagles in a game they also dominated.

After leading 64-6 at the break, the Eagles came back stronger, allowing just eight points on the scoreboard in the second half whilst also adding another 18 to their own score.

But it wasn’t enough to overcome the Roosters who secured a 72-24 victory at home.

Elsewhere, Halifax Panthers headed to Leeds Rhinos in their final game before they face off in the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final on Saturday 25 July.

It was a close contest between the pair at 46-52 leaving all to play for when they meet again in the upcoming Challenge Cup Final.

The final game of the weekend saw Edinburgh Giants take on Wigan Warriors as the Warriors headed North of the border.

The visitors had the perfect start after Adam Rigby’s kick off was collected by Toby Burton-Carter who opened the scoring within seconds. With a hat-trick from Burton-Carter after just 11 minutes, the side set the tone for what would be a tough test for the Giants.

Edinburgh continued to fire back, which included a hat-trick for Stephen Halsey and a brace for Calum Davidson, but they struggled to overcome the huge score that the Warriors were racking up and finished the game at 32-76.
