Eliminators Team of the Week

It's time to reveal the Eliminators Team of the Week, with representatives from Wakefield Trinity, Warrington Wolves and Leigh Leopards after a thrilling opening weekend of the Betfred Super League Play-Offs!

First up are Trinity, who boast six inclusions after their stunning victory over the Leopards, which saw them historically secure a Semi-Final place on Friday Night.

Tom Johnstone was at his brilliant best on the wing, crossing for a try and racking up an impressive 199 metres from 24 carries, while also producing nine tackle busts.

In the centres, Cam Scott enjoyed one of his strongest displays of the season, carrying for 163 metres, making four tackle busts and adding a clean break.

Pulling the strings in the halves was Jake Trueman, who contributed 45 metres, 25 tackles, three tackle busts and four goals in an influential all-round performance.

At hooker, Trinity's star man Tyson Smoothy was tireless in the middle. He scored one try, assisted another, made 57 tackles and added 54 metres from dummy-half.

Up front, Captain Chaos Caius Faatili was a constant handful for defenders, crossing for a try while posting 132 metres, ten tackle busts and 23 tackles.

Standing tall in the second row was the relentless Isaiah Vagana, who also got on the scoresheet and finished with 93 metres, 29 tackles and four tackle busts.

The Leopards are represented by one player in this week's side.

Owen Trout was outstanding in the middle despite his side's defeat, registering two try assists, 127 metres, 37 tackles and two offloads in a wholehearted performance.

For the Wolves, five players earn selection following their Eliminators success over reigining champions, Hull KR.

At full-back, Josh Thewlis was a key contributor with 156 metres, three tackle busts and one clean break from the back.

Joining him are teammates Toby King and Matty Ashton. King claimed a try whilst producing 139 metres and three tackle busts, while Ashton was electric on the wing with a stunning hat-trick, alongside 187 metres, four tackle busts and two clean breaks.

Ashton also reached 100 Super League tries on Saturday.

Ewan Irwin earns a place for his calmness and composure in the halves in a game of such magnitude. His five goals also proved crucial for Wire.

Completing the Wolves contingent is Ben Currie, whose work-rate and leadership was immense as he tallied 109 metres from 20 carries and 34 tackles.

Both Trinity and the Wolves have progressed to the Semi-Finals where Wakefield face Wigan Warriors and Warrington play Leeds Rhinos for two spots in the Betfred Super League Grand Final.
