Nominations revealed for 2026 Betfred Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year

Nominations for the 2026 Betfred Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year award have been revealed today, ahead of Rugby League Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday 29 September. 

Leeds Rhinos centre Connie Boyd has established herself as one of the competition’s most exciting young talents. The 20-year-old, who progressed through the Rhinos pathway after joining from Oulton Raidettes and has taken her game to another level in 2026. 

After making 13 appearances in 2025, Boyd has scored 16 tries in 16 appearances across all competitions this season and hasbecome a regular starter in the Rhinos backline. Among her standout performances was a four-try haul against Featherstone Rovers in May. 

Ruby Bruce has continued her rise as one of the brightest young players in the women’s game with another impressive campaign for Leeds. The talented hooker broke through in 2025, ending the season with a nomination for the Betfred Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year award and a senior England debut against Wales.  

Still only 19, Bruce has registered four tries in 12 appearances during the 2026 campaign, while providing trademark energy and creativity from dummy-half to help drive the Rhinos challenge at the top end of the competition. 

Isabel Rowe has continued to underline her status as one of the brightest young talents in the competition. The Wigan Warriors half-back has become a central figure in her side’s success, despite still being only 19 years old. After winning the 2025 Women’s Super League Young Player of the Year award and helping the Warriors secure a historic treble, Rowe has elevated her game even further in 2026.  

Across all competitions she has contributed 11 tries, 108 goals and 260 points in 17 appearances, making her one of the most prolific point-scorers in the Women’s Super League. 

The nominees and winner of the Young Player of the Year award are determined by the England Performance staff, with the winner set to be revealed at Rugby League Awards Night. 

Tickets for the Betfred Women’s Grand Final between Wigan Warriors and York Valkyrie (KO 5.30pm) are on sale now, with unreserved seating available in the East Stand of The Brick Community Stadium.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5 for juniors.

The Grand Final will also form part of a double-header, with the Promotion Play-Off Final taking place ahead of the main event between the winners of the Women’s Championship and the team finishing fourth in the BWSL Shield Competition.
