BWhcSL: Round 7 Preview
2 Jul 2026
After expanding to eight teams with newcomers Bradford Bulls joining established competitors such as Halifax Panthers, Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and London Roosters, the 2026 Betfred Wheelchair Super League Season has already produced some thrilling contests and an increasingly competitive battle at both ends of the table.
Defending Champions, Halifax Panthers, have made a strong start to their title defence.
They opened with a dominant win over the Bulls, beat Wigan at home and comfortably defeated Sheffield Eagles before overcoming Edinburgh Giants in Round 4.
The Panthers remain one of the teams to beat and look every bit as formidable as they did during their treble-winning 2025 campaign.
This weekend they’ll take on Hull FC as they attempt to keep their winning streak alive and stay top of the table.
Leeds Rhinos have also made an impressive start.
The Rhinos recorded a statement victory against the Warriors in May before producing the most eye-catching result of Round 4, thrashing Hull FC 16-100.
Their attack is already firing and they appear well placed to challenge for both the League Leaders’ Shield and Grand Final honours, in particular after a close contest between the Panthers in Round 5.
On Sunday, they face off against Sheffield Eagles in another battle to prove they've still got more to give.
Meanwhile, London Roosters have continued their rise as one of the competition’s strongest clubs.
After reaching the 2025 Grand Final they have maintained that momentum with big wins over Bradford and Leeds, underlining their credentials as genuine title contenders.
Saturday sees them go up against Wigan Warriors who are also showing progress alongside Hull FC and Sheffield Eagles.
The Warriors have produced emphatic victories against the Eagles and the Bulls but struggled in tough defeats to Halifax and Leeds which mean they have already lost ground on the early pace setters.
Sheffield Eagles have picked up some momentum in their second Super League season having already gained multiple victories after not securing a single one in 2025.
Both the Eagles and Hull FC will be aiming to build on encouraging performances during the second half of the campaign as they look to establish themselves in the race for play-off positions.
Despite sitting on the opposite end of the table, Bradford Bulls have still shown flashes of promise in their inaugural season and will be targeting victories in the second half.
Alongside them are Edinburgh Giants who are also searching for consistency against the division’s more experienced clubs.
The pair will face off against one another this weekend as they both fight for their first win in the 2026 season.
As the competition reaches its halfway point several crucial fixtures still remain before the play-offs commence allowing teams time to strengthen their positions, mount a late charge for the top four and shape an exciting conclusion to the season.
