BWhcSL: Round 8 Preview

The Betfred Wheelchair Super League heads into Round 8 this weekend with three exciting fixtures on the schedule.

The action gets underway when Bradford Bulls welcome Wigan Warriors (11 July, KO 1:30pm).

The Warriors head into the game full of confidence after an impressive victory over London Roosters last weekend and will be aiming to build on that positive energy against the Bulls.

Next up, London Roosters take on Hull FC (11 July, KO 2pm).

Both sides are in need of a confidence boost this weekend after suffering tough defeats in the last round.

This weekend will be an opportunity for the teams to get their campaign back on track and return to winning ways.

The final game of the weekend sees Leeds Rhinos meet Edinburgh Giants again after facing off in the opening round.

Edinburgh claimed their first win of the campaign last weekend with victory over the Bulls, giving the squad a timely confidence boost.

Giants captain Olivia Fulton was delighted to see her side bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Sheffield Eagles in the week prior:

“It was really good, it was good to bounce back because we didn’t have a great game against Sheffield.

“We were all really disappointed with ourselves and it felt like a real gut punch because even though we’ve lost some games we’ve been improving our scorelines from last season which was one of our aims.

“To bounce back and win against Bradford was really positive and really boosted the squad.”

This weekend presents another tough test for the Giants as they take on Leeds Rhinos, a side they’ve already met twice in 2026.

Fulton believes her team’s recent progress gives them plenty to be optimistic about heading into the game:

“It’s definitely been a good confidence boost especially this week because we played Leeds back-to-back right at the start of the season.

“We played them in the league and then we played them in the cup two weekends on the bounce so we’re looking forward to playing them again and just seeing how far we’ve improved during the season.”

Looking ahead to the challenge, Fulton knows exactly where the Giants need to improve if they are to come away with another positive result:

“It’s our speed off the line and making sure we’re getting up in defence.

“We’ve been really working on keeping that cohesive unit in defence because as a team that’s one of the things we pride ourselves on, being quite a good defensive team.

“And then just letting the ball do the work, the assets that each team member has to hopefully get the results we’re looking for.”
