Leopards duo Umyla Hanley and Josh Charnley are included in the Round 23 Team of the Week, following their side’s statement win over the league leaders, Leeds Rhinos, on Thursday Night.
Super League’s current all-time top try scorer Charnley demonstrated once again why he remains one of the game's best finishers. The veteran winger recorded one try and one try assist, carried for 145 metres from 16 runs and made two clean breaks during Leigh's incredible victory at AMT Headingley.
He is accompanied by star centre Hanley, who was also instrumental in Round 23. Hanley crossed for a try, produced one try assist and completed 27 tackles.
Jack Broadbent's outstanding campaign continued as Hull KR strengthened their top four hopes with a victory over Catalans Dragons. The versatile full-back crossed for two tries, made 151 metres from 17 carries and added a clean break in another dazzling display for the Robins.
Then, Warrington Wolves’ half-back pairing have earned their spot in this week’s team.
Captain George Williams, who made his eagerly awaited comeback from injury, was at the heart of everything good about the Wolves’ victory over York Knights as they climbed into third in the table.
Williams registered two try assists, ran for 100 metres from 13 carries and controlled the contest with his experience and leadership that a Warrington team have missed so far this season.
Livewire scrum-half Ewan Irwin also enjoyed a brilliant performance, which included a sensational solo score and a perfect record with the kicking tee.
Will these two players be pivotal as the Wolves continue their push towards a top two finish?
On Friday, Castleford Tigers’ victory over Hull FC was built on resilience through the middle and George Lawler led the way. The Tigers number 10 made 42 tackles and 124 metres from just 12 carries, providing the platform for a crucial away win for his side.
Three St Helens players feature after the Red V produced an important win over Wakefield Trinity to keep their Play-Off hopes alive for another week.
Tristan Sailor was arguably one of the standout performers of the entire round. An electric Sailor racked up a superb hat-trick, set up another try, ran 197 metres from 19 carries and bust through seven tackles at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.
His attacking threat caused Wakefield problems all afternoon and it was exactly the kind of performance the Saints needed as they look to finish the season strongly and reignite their Final Charge.
Daniel Suluka-Fifita was immense through the middle for Saints. The powerful prop racked up 163 metres from 19 carries, produced four tackle busts and completed 26 tackles as Eamon O’Carroll’s men dominated the battle in the second half against Trinity.
And Jake Davies had a memorable afternoon in West Yorkshire, crossing for two tries and contributing 116 metres from 12 carries. The second-rower continually troubled Trinity’s defence and played a major role in Saints' second half surge.
Likewise, there’s a trio of Wigan Warriors following their big win away at Bradford Bulls, which saw the Warriors move level on league points with the table topping Rhinos.
Rising star Taylor Kerr continues to impress. The Wigan hooker crossed for a try, whilst making 35 tackles as the Warriors comfortably overcame Bradford Bulls.
Fellow 20-year-old teammate Kian McDermott also shone for the Warriors, scoring a try, making 100 metres and completing an impressive 46 tackles.
Finally, Kaide Ellis set the standards, making 142 metres and 29 tackles.
For Huddersfield Giants, Sam Halsall has returned to action in style, and helped the Giants to a fourth straight win with two tries, 114 metres and four tackle busts over in the south of France. This victory helped lift Huddersfield off the bottom of the table for the first time in months.
The Final Charge continues on Tuesday 18 August with Hull KR hosting Warrington Wolves (live on Sky Sports).
