Super Four & Shield: Round 4 Story

Wigan Warriors have secured their place in the 2026 Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final this weekend after beating Leeds Rhinos 26-20 to earn their second consecutive League Leaders’ Shield.

Mary Coleman crossed twice as Wigan raced into an early 20-0 lead, before Leeds mounted a strong fightback through Lois Naidole’s double and further tries from Liv Whitehead and Shannon Brown.

The Rhinos pushed hard late on, but Wigan’s defence held firm to keep their unbeaten run intact and move them one Grand Final win away from a second successive treble.

York Valkyrie also strengthened their Play-Off push with an important 28-18 win away at St Helens.

A superb first-half display put York in control, with Savannah Andrade completing a hat-trick and Tara-Jane Stanley adding a try and four goals to build a 24-6 half-time advantage.

Saints responded after the break through Alyx Bridge and Shona Hoyle-Holdsworth, but York’s defence stood firm in the closing stages to claim back-to-back Super Four victories.

In the Shield Competition, Huddersfield Giants and Featherstone Rovers both recorded wins to keep the lower-half battle alive.

Huddersfield continued their strong form with victory over Barrow Raiders, leading 0-24 at the break after Mollie Iceton and Amelia Brown scored two tries a piece in the first 40.

Iceton finished the match with a huge four tries whilst Samantha Hulme and Madison Clegg added to the Giants’ tally to help pick up a fifth consecutive win against the Raiders.

Featherstone saw off Leigh Leopards to pick up another valuable result. Ellie Lamb got the ball rolling when she headed over before Aaliyah Brewster got her moment under the sticks just minutes before the break.

Rovers extended their lead through Kate Evans and Cerys Gregory who got her first try for the side in the second half, before Chloe Billington sealed their win.

With Wigan now confirmed as League Leaders and York closing in on the top-three race, the final two rounds are set up for a compelling run-in across both the Super Four and Shield Competitions.
